CDOT ANNOUNCES PUBLIC MEETINGS FOR VALLEY HIGHWAY PROJECT

Denver – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is looking for citizen input regarding design alternatives for the Valley Highway Project and potential impacts they could have on the environment, including water and air quality, wetlands, noise, and cultural and community resources. Public meetings will be held January 22nd and 28th (see location and times below). CDOT has made major progress with environmental analysis and wants citizens’ reactions and impressions.

The Valley Highway Project encompasses I-25 and adjacent major arterial streets from Logan Street to 6th Avenue, and along 6th Avenue west of I-25 to Federal. It includes the construction of the new Broadway viaduct as well as the redesign of the interchanges at Broadway, Santa Fe and Alameda for greater movement and efficiency. More information can be found at www.valleyhighway.com.

CDOT needs to gather public input on design alternatives to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement, which will consider major transportation improvements and possible impacts to neighborhoods, businesses and surrounding projects. Thanks to previous public involvement and analysis by the Technical Working Group, a list of more than 80 designs has been narrowed down to three system corridor alternatives.

The public is invited to attend either one of these public meetings about the Valley Highway Project. Each meeting begins with an Open House viewing of potential designs at 5:30 p.m., followed by a presentation at 6:30 p.m. and a facilitated discussion afterwards.
